Set reminders by voice on iPhone, in English or Thai

Say one sentence with the what and the when, and the reminder is set. No form, no date picker. This guide shows how to set reminders by voice on iPhone with Saysame, with phrases it understands.

Three steps

1. Tap the mic. The mic is the first screen of Saysame. One tap and it's listening. No wake word.
2. Say what you need, and when. For example “call mom in 30 minutes”. Say it the way you'd tell a friend.
3. It's set. Saysame reads the time out of your words, sets the reminder, and shows a summary so you can see exactly when. Wrong? Tap the summary to fix it.

Before you speak, choose English or Thai with the TH ⇄ EN button at the top right of the voice screen. Saysame listens in one language at a time, so say the whole sentence in the language you picked.

These are phrases we test the app against. Put the task first or the time first. Either works.

Speaking Thai?

Switch the voice screen to Thai and say the whole sentence in Thai. Saysame understands everyday Thai time words, like “นัดหมอ พรุ่งนี้บ่ายสาม” (doctor's appointment, tomorrow at 3 PM) or “กินยาทุกเช้า” (take medicine every morning). The Thai guide has a full list of Thai phrases.

Say only a day and it reminds you at 8 AM. Say no day or time at all and it reminds you in 1 hour. You can change both in Settings.

Where you can start

• In the app. Open Saysame and tap the big mic.
• From a Home Screen widget. Tap the widget and start talking. Set a preset time for when you don't say one, like 30 minutes. Two presets are free.
• With the Action Button ★. Press the side button and speak, on iPhones that have one. (Premium)

What you see after

• A notification on time, with three snooze choices you set yourself.
• A countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island as the time gets close. By default it starts an hour before; you can change that in Settings. (Dynamic Island on supported iPhones.)
• Urgent reminders ★ ring full-screen, even in Silent mode or a Focus. (Premium)

Siri can set reminders too. Why Saysame?

Siri sets reminders by voice and saves them to Apple's Reminders app. If that works for you, keep using it. Saysame is for people who want this instead:

• One tap, no wake word. Start from the mic, a widget, or the Action Button ★, and finish in one sentence.
• Your pick of English or Thai, switched with one button on the voice screen.
• Your voice stays on your iPhone. Saysame transcribes speech on the device and never uploads your audio.
• One place for it all. The list, the countdown, snooze and repeats live in an app built only for voice reminders.

Questions

Can I mix English and Thai in one sentence?

No. Saysame listens in one language at a time. Pick English or Thai with the TH ⇄ EN button on the voice screen, then say the whole sentence in that language.

What if it hears the wrong time?

After it saves, a summary appears for about 8 seconds. Tap it to fix the date or time, or open the reminder from your list later. If you'd rather check every reminder before it saves, turn on the confirm screen in Settings.

What happens if I don't say a time?

Say only a day, like “remember to water plants tomorrow”, and it reminds you at 8 AM that day. Say no day or time at all, and it reminds you in 1 hour. You can change both defaults in Settings.

Do I need an internet connection?

Making a reminder needs no internet. Speech is transcribed on your iPhone and your audio is never uploaded. Syncing to your other devices through iCloud catches up when you're back online.

Do I need to sign up?

No sign-up. Open the app and start talking. Sync uses the iCloud account already signed in on your iPhone.

Which permissions does it ask for?

Microphone and speech recognition, asked the first time you tap the mic, and notifications, so it can remind you on time.
